IKO Roofing Company in Los Angeles: What to Know First

We’re an independent IKO roofing company serving Los Angeles, and most IKO roof repairs here run between $450 and $1,800 depending on what failed and how much decking is involved. A full IKO roof replacement on a typical L.A. home runs $11,500 to $19,000, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts. If you own a home with IKO shingles and something’s wrong, call (945) 303-9821 and a live person answers, day or night.

This page is for IKO owners across Los Angeles who want a roofer that actually knows how their shingles behave in this climate. Not a generic contractor who treats every brand the same. Greg Holloway, our owner, has worked roofs across this city for going on two decades, and he’ll tell you straight: IKO shingles have their own way of failing, and fixing them right takes a roofer who’s seen it happen.

How IKO Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

IKO makes solid shingles, but every product line has its weak points. Here’s what we actually see on Los Angeles roofs and what we do about it.

  • IKO Cambridge nail-line tear-outs. Cambridge is the most common IKO line we find in Los Angeles, and its biggest failure here isn’t the shingle material itself. It’s the nail line. IKO widened the Cambridge nailing zone years ago, but older Cambridge installs often got nailed too high, above the reinforced strip. When the wind comes through the canyons, shingles at the rakes and ridges tear clean off. We replace the affected shingles, but more importantly we check nail placement across the whole field and correct the pattern before re-securing. Most crews miss that second step.
  • IKO Dynasty sealant delamination in the San Fernando Valley heat. Dynasty shingles use a bond that’s strong, but the intense Valley heat plus reflected UV off flat sections weakens the adhesive strip on south-facing slopes. You’ll see shingles that look fine but lift at the corners. The fix is re-sealing with a heavy-duty adhesive that holds up to direct sun exposure here, not just pressing them back down and hoping for the best. We’ve had to redo jobs for other companies that only did the push-down fix and had the same shingles flip within a month.
  • IKO Nordic granule loss on beach-adjacent homes. Near Santa Monica, Palisades, or Manhattan Beach, roofs take salt spray and marine moisture. On Nordic and other IKO architectural lines, this accelerates granule loss on the leading edges of the shingle tabs. Once granules are gone, the asphalt substrate gets direct UV exposure and the shingle turns brittle. We replace the affected shingles and recommend a protective trim along the eaves if the exposure is consistent. It’s a small add that extends the whole roof’s life.
  • IKO Marathon ridge cap separation. Marathon is their heavier three-tab line, popular on older Los Angeles tract homes. The ridge caps fail before the field shingles. They crack along the center and separate at the hip lines, especially where the roof framing settles. We pull the old ridge cap, inspect the underlayment, re-seat it, and install fresh ridge shingles that flex properly. If the old cap was nailed through the sealant strip, we correct that. It’s a small thing that causes half of the ridge failures we see.
  • IKO Armourshake over-driven nails in low-slope sections. Armourshake is a dimensional shaker-look product. The problem we find on Los Angeles ranch homes with low-slope areas is over-driven nails. The nail head punches through the shingle face, and water follows the nail into the roof deck. By the time it shows inside, the decking is already soft. We lift the shingles in the affected area, replace the rotted decking section, and re-install with proper depth-controlled nailing. Then we check the rest of the roof for the same issue because if one installer over-drove one nail, they over-drove a hundred.

Our IKO Roofing Company Process

We follow the Kingswell Way on every job: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, come back if it fails. Here’s how an IKO repair goes with us.

  1. 1
Call and describe what you’re seeing. A live person answers. You tell us what’s going on: a leak, missing shingle, visible sag, granule runoff in the gutter. We book a time that fits your schedule.
  2. 2
On-site diagnosis. Our technician walks the roof and gets into the attic if needed. We look for the failure mode, check the decking condition, and document everything. We’re looking at the whole IKO system, not just the visible symptom.
  3. 3
Written price before any work. We hand you a line-item quote on the spot. No pressure, no calls back to the office, no number that changes when the crew arrives.
  4. 4
Parts decision. We talk through OEM IKO shingles versus quality aftermarket matching options. If it’s a warranty-relevant area, we use IKO-branded product. If it’s just patching, we match the color and texture with the best available material.
  5. 5
The repair and the test. We fix the issue, then run water over the repaired area and check the underlayment. We don’t leave until it’s dry inside and out.
  6. 6
Written guarantee before we roll out. You get the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it fails inside a year, we return at no charge. That’s the rule.

What IKO Roofing Company Costs in Los Angeles

Real numbers, because you should not have to call three companies just to get a ballpark.

  • Small IKO shingle repair (a few tabs, a leaky flashing spot): $450-$750
  • Ridge cap or hip repair on an IKO roof: $600-$950
  • Moderate repair involving decking replacement or underlayment sections: $950-$1,800
  • Full IKO architectural shingle re-roof on a typical L.A. home: $11,500-$19,000

What moves the price: roof pitch, two stories versus one, decking condition, how much tear-off and disposal is needed, and the specific IKO product line. We never charge to walk the roof and put a number in your hands. Call (945) 303-9821 for a free estimate. The price you’re quoted is the price you’ll pay.

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing for IKO Work

We started Tilehurst because too many Los Angeles homeowners told us the same stories: a roofer who never showed, a number that grew by thousands at the door, a repair that failed in a month. That’s why every repair we make on an IKO roof is covered by a written guarantee, and if it fails inside the guarantee period, we come back at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who’s on your roof. They know IKO’s product lines because they’ve repaired them for years, not because they read a brochure. And if an IKO replacement makes sense, you’re choosing from seven manufacturers, including GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, so the product fits your home and your budget. Know the price before the first tile moves.
